Hello
Just looking at options for a database and came across Kintera, just wondered if anyone out there used this database and if so is it as good as Donor Strategy / Rasiers Edge?
Many thanks

RE: Has anyone used Kintera?
Hi there
From my understanding, Kintera made a move into the UK market...and then pulled out again very quickly because they thought it would be just too tricky to break. A couple of my sources gave me similar versions of this story!
There's lots of choice in the marketplace - it just depends what you need! There are different solutions offering different advantages - some are great at direct marketing, some offer great hosted solutions, some offer great membership solutions. Some offer all of these! If you're a non-profit, I wouldn't recommend a standard CRM solution such as salesforce or MS Dynamics CRM, just because they just don't contain the functionality a non-profit needs at the moment. Dependent upon what you need, a hosted solution may well be appropriate - I'm increasingly impressed by them.
I've worked with some of the names mentioned - Blackbaud, Care, Fisk Brett - but there are many others that it's worth looking at - Donorflex, Esit, Imis etc...it just depends what your focus is.

re: Has anyone used Kintera?
I met with Kintera representatives this time last year and was certainly very impressed with the product demonstration from an online fundraising/donor communications point of view. It was refreshing to see an agency with answers to all the questions I posed at the meeting.
However, I've not used it with a client.
I'd check with them whether there is a UK version of their system available and in use, since they don't currently have a UK office (I believe).
There's also an ex-Kintera staffer on this forum who might have more detailed advice.
