Hi all,
I will be moving to New Zealand and really want to stay in fundraising. I've been trying to find out more about fundraising over there but apart from looking at the Institute of Fundraising NZ website I have found it very hard to find out how jobs are advertised, what fundraising over there is acutally like and the differences between the UK, etc. Does anyone have any advice about where I can look or someone to contact over there?
Many thanks.
Genevieve

Genevieve, my email is below. Use an amphersand instead of AT. I understand that posting 'proper' email addresses using an amhersand on the web opens one up to getting lots of spam. Hence the subterfuge! johnATbarnettemail.com

When you arrive I suggest you get in touch with Sheila at FINZ and ask when/where the next FINZ local branch Learning Lunch is being held and attend. These are held in, I believe, the three largest cities. In Central Branch (lunches in Wellington), there is a $20 non-member rate. These are great networking opportunities, you will meet fundraisers and learn what jobs are available. If your budget allows, join up to FINZ while in the UK and you will receive emails of job vacancies. Go onto the newspapers website www.stuff.co.nz and set up for Job Alert email to be sent to you for every advert containing the words fundraiser or charity.

When you are arriving? Thought you might like to see an example of an email to FINZ members. Two such positions were emailed to members today.

Hi John,
Thanks very much for the advice. I'm hoping we will be moving to Wellington so it's good to know that Central Branch is based there!
