PLEASE HELP

Submitted by sophiebessemer on 16 May, 2006 - 16:06.

can any one please help me.my husband has been diagnosed with leukeamia and seeing how much the ward needs i organised a fundraiser the response was amazing to the point of me wanting to set up a charity / trust and raise more for leukeamia / cancer charitys. I have been involved with fundrasing for a number of years and this is something i have been considering. the problem is i have been aproached by another charity who want me to organise things for them i dont really want to distract from the leukemia side of things but someone mentioned to me about setting up a trust that gives money to things health related. has anyone any veiws help or advice all welcome thankyou

RE: PLEASE HELP

Would it be helpful to liase with a local or national charity dealing with the illness, to do local fundraisers etc in return for some local support from them for patients & carers?
Just a random thought, so might not be practical.

RE: PLEASE HELP

hi thankyou for your responce. I may not have written it to clearly the group that has approached me is not leukeamia or cancer based.

RE: PLEASE HELP

Why set up a new charity when there are so many cancer charities out there that could do with people with your obvious commitment to help?

Sorry to be cynical, but the effort involved with setting up a new charity, recruiting trustees, fundraising and adminstration makes me think that if you are looking to work nationally, why duplicate effort?
