Hi, I am trying to design & produce some packs of xmas cards for our charity to sell in our charity shops, libraries and on our website.
I was wondering if anyone knew a good way of going about doing this.
Should I :
a) Contact a normal printer about printing cards and buy the envelopes separately
or
b) Contact a company that specialise in printing your card designs with charity logo on the inside & reverse and also supply envelopes, packing and stickers ready for us to sell.....does anyone know of any companies that do this?
Or does anyone have any other knowledge about this?
Thank you

It's also worth taking into account the different postage charges now in operation. I know I will be looking carefully at the size of Christmas cards before I buy them this year

RE: Xmas Cards
Hi Vicki
I found this information about the company Dash that we got our Xmas cards from a couple of years ago. Their website is under construction at the moment but the the web address is www.dashuk.co.uk anyway.

RE: Xmas Cards
Hi Vicki
A few years ago we got Xmas card made with our logo etc on them and we got the from 'Dash'. They were the only ones at the time who sourced recycled card for us and at smallish quantaties. I have searched on the internet but cannot find them. When I go to work tomorrow I will see if I have any correspondence on them -if I do will let you know.

RE: Xmas Cards
A couple of thoughts. First, there's no standard "normal" printer - they'll all have different kit and different specialties, and will be able to do different amounts of the printing, scoring and folding, collating and packaging in-house. I'd be suspicious of anyone claiming to specialise to the extent you outlined: it's irregular work, and is far more likely to be someone who's farming the work out to another business.
Second: you're going to have to strike a balance on cost. A printer can probably source envelopes cheaper than you can: they may even make their own, if they're large enough. But the more they package it all up for you, the more each pack will cost you. Equally, if you're not used to managing the print process, finding a local printer who can take the time (but will charge appropriately) to walk you through it and save you from any disasters on the way could be a sensible step.
