Data Cleansing

Submitted by Forum_Admin on 1 October, 2006 - 19:00.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a company they have used to cleanse their database. Ideally I would like a free quote. I am looking for someone to get me new addresses for gone aways, telephone numbers, email address and inform me of deceased contacts. Equally important to cost is how easy was it to import the cleansed data into your database. I use Filemaker Pro on a Mac!!

many thanks

RE: Data Cleansing

Hi Vicki

In my previous position, fundraising from direct mail, I used Metamorphix http://www.meta-morphix.com/ for what you're suggesting. I found them very cheap, quick and helpful.

Hope this helps

RE: Data Cleansing

Many thanks Alan, I never thought of Royal Mail providing this service.

I'll check it out and let you know how I get on.

RE: Data Cleansing

The Royal Mail are offering a service to cleanse data and you only have to pay for the records that need changing. If you upload a data file of the names and addresses, they analyse it and then give you a breakdown of the changes that are needed.

The costs for address changes are competitive and as you are only paying for the changed records, it is a good service.

We have used the service for a client and the time from upload to download of the changed records was 24 hours.

Visit www.royalmail.com and find ListCleaner in the search box and all details are on the site.
