Hi
I have started trying to promote awareness of Fibromyalgia in the UK online. I now wish to take this offline as well. What rules and regs must I know about to do this please? How do I make the name of my group "official", it is too small to register with the Charities Commission.
Regards
Hana

RE: Where Do I Start plz?
The first place to start with anything like this is the people who alreday have an interest - those with the condition, those living with those who have the condition, and those treating the condition.
A simple leaflet, outlining the support required or offered and pointing to your contact details (website, phone number, contact address) distributed through these groups will begin to build a database for you.
Once you have some names, a simple newsletter is a good way of generating the feeling of belonging that is central to making a support group work.
In terms of rules and regulations, on this basis there aren't any, beyond the standard "legal, decent and honest".
If you want to raise funds, the same applies, and once you get big enough to register this will be the watchword for all your subsequent activities too.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Gerry
