For those using Raisers Edge, is anyone recording their expenditures in the database?
If so how are you doing so and is RE good for this sort of thing?

When I was fundraising from direct mail, Raiser's Edge was very straightforward for this sort of thing and Blackbaud should be able to help you out if you give them a call or visit their website.

In my experience RE users do not typically store expenditure in the system as it was not really designed for that. There are expections for example event expenditure has an area allocated to it. In the case of direct mail it is possible to store this on the appeal as there is a specific tab there but I am not certain how easy or useful it is to report on this.
