Fraudulent donations

Submitted by Forum_Admin on 9 October, 2007 - 08:15.

We have had a serious flurry of fradulent donations in the last week, appearing to come from the US and more recently Iran. We've had no problems in the past, but recently launched a new microsite that we think is pulling at least some of these in. We use WorldPay as a transaction agency.

Has anyone else had recent problems along similar lines?

I work in fraud prevention

I work in fraud prevention and we often hear of charities having problems with online fraud. Often a fraudster will steal a card and test that it works by making a donation to a charity first.

If anyone else has similar experiences, I would be interested to hear of them....

RE: Fraudulent donations

Not had it recently, but I'm aware of the issue. Is this the one where they make a donation then ask for it back in cash?

Have you spoken to Worldpay? I'm not currently managing any donation websites directly, but I know that they were keen to know when such attacks occurred, at least when I last dealt with them directly.

Cheers

Gerry
