open cockpit photos

I am the secretary of the civilian committee of an Air Training corps Squadron. We have an aircrfat at our HQ. We are considering opening up the cockpit for members of the public so that they can have their photgraph taken sitting in a fast jet. We would charge a small fee for this activity whicch will go to squadron funds.
The atc has charitable status.
Therefore If we do this do we need to comply with any charity regulations?
Can you advsie what these regulations are?

We're back in the territory of our old friends, "Legal, Decent and Honest".
You're a charity, so you're allowed to raise funds. If you want the funds for a specific purpose, it may help to say so, but then you would have to spend the money raised in the way you stated (restricted funds); better, usually, to say "for ATC funds"
You should also be clear about the cost of the photo, and how much will go to Group funds.
There is a small elephant trap around Gift Aid.
You would have to look at the costs of the photos against the charge to customers. You could charge the cost price of producing the photo, and request a donation on top - the donation could then attract Gift Aid (an extra 22p in the £).
However, if you charge, say, £5 for a photo that would cost £25 from the local photographer, then the benefit would outweigh the cost and you would not be able to claim the tax benefit.
Sorry - I've answered a question you didn't ask, and I don't want to complicate it unnecessarily for you. If it's a one-off deal, forget about Gift Aid, but if you're going to do this on any large scale then HMRC's contribution is not to be sniffed at!
