Does anyone out there know of specific trusts that are happy to potentially fund a Public Affair's Officers Post. I have tried trustfunding website.. and looked around.. but can't find anything specific to this area of work. I can find trusts that possibly may fund some of the work it may include.. but nothing that seems direct enough.
If you have had success with gaining funding in this area - I would equally be so grateful to hear your experience.
I thought there might be funding to be gained via a Parliamentary organisation source - but have had no luck in finding much out in this area.
Any guidence would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks for your advice Sandre and Gerry,
I will now try and break it down and see if I have more success that way. But it is the first bit -the campaigning and research info that I am struggling with in a way. But maybe I am not looking at it in enough detail. I guess I just thought there may be specific trusts out there that might be interested in this line of work that would be 'known'... but seems it is not as obvious as that..
Will keep plowing through.
Regards,
Juliette
RE: Juliette
Hi, Juliette
Excuse me a moment
Sandre, it goes without saying :-)
Sorry about that - now, back to business.
I think you may have answered your own question, in a way. There is no reason why the post needs to be funded by any one funder - if you can find two or three who are interested in one or other aspect of the proposal, the Trusts will have no objection to being in harness together - indeed, they often consider it a bonus, in effect making their grant-making go further.
Try Sandre's advice, then think about your project in bite-size chunks.
Cheers
Gerry
RE: Juliette
Try searching on the keywords you yourself have posted in relation to what the PA will actually be doing - as the wise Mr Beldon has said, focussing on the activities and outcomes rather than the 'thing itself' may help you focus your efforts.
If you find a trust that seems to fit the bill, but you aren't sure - then call them and ask. We don't bite - honestly we don't.
[1] Think it's now your turn to be my fan again Gerry
RE: Juliette
Dear Gerry,
Thank you for your reply.
The PA Officer role will initially be to fill in the gaps in our research knowledge (research, funding structures, overseas comparison), work to identify priorities for our campaigning work (focus groups, quantitative work), and provide the evidence base for that, build network of contacts within DH and parliament, and monitor activity that will affect our ability to input/comment/influence.
The role will also be to help set up groups which enable women to participate in campaigning locally and having an influence on the national agenda.
I hope that gives more of an idea of the work this post will hope to achieve. I think I may be having difficulty as finding a trust that will support both areas is proving difficult. Any guidence is gratefully appreciated.
RE: Juliette
Hi, Juliette
You may need to ask yourself what the PA is going to do - there are funds for raising awareness of health issues, for research, for healthcare etc. A Public Affairs post does not exist in isolation, and I would wish to look at it from the benefits of the post, rather than the post itself. It's a bit like asking for money for a computer, when what you want is to produce a newsletter - it's not the tool you want so much as what the tool will do for you!
Cheers
Gerry

Martyn
Thank you so much for replying. Esmee Fairbairn doesn't fund health initiatives, which is what the post holder would be promoting- as far as I understand their criteria.
I will look again at Lloyds TSB Foundation... and double check to see if I can make it fit.
Thank you again. If anyone else has any suggestions it would be gratefully appreciated.
Regards,
Juliette
RE: Juliette
Not really my area but Esmee Fairbairn have funded a couple of posts similar in the past!

I think it might be helpful to suggest the post was key to lobbying for a particular bit of legislation/policy affecting your organisation.
Depending on how you structured/presented the post other funders like Lloyds TSB Foundation.
But as I said its not my area so other people may have different ideas?
