I work for a company that is looking to give a sizable amount of money away to a series of about 5 charities (~£100,000).
For our business purposes, we are looking to give this money to charities that have significant online presence. Any suggestions of where I could look for this information / which ones I should be contacting?
We are potetially happy working with larger or smaller charities.
Area of focus:
- Domestic charities working in "personal" issues (eg homeless, mental health, AIDS, Cancer)
- Animal related
- Green / forestry related

Haworth Cat Rescue
Hello, I may be too late for this, but I would like to ask your organisation to consider Haworth Cat Rescue. Our registered charity is number 1058218.
We have a website, blog, myspace presence, facebook page (due to be launched imminently) and we sell online on eBay and Amazon. Our website is under construction (we have a temporary one online at the moment) but when completed will have such features as links to our blog, a buy-a-brick scheme for our appeal (see below) and a memory wall where people can make a donation in memory of their pet(s) - we are using a pixel wall for this. We will also have contact forms for people to report lost and found cats to us (though we won't publish these details in the near future).
We have recently launched a campaign to raise money (probably in excess of £2million) to build a large rehoming centre for unwanted cats.
Thank you for considering us.

RE: Which charities have e-marketing reach?
New Life Parrot Rescue & Helpline Service is a small registered charity.
Our mission is to provide shelter for unwanted, neglected, traumatised and abused parrots. We care for each individual's needs and where necessary, endeavour to restore sick or malnourished individuals back to good physical and mental health.
To rehabilitate attentively, care for and ease suffering.
To provide a permanent sanctuary for traumatised, disabled, sensitive and difficult companion psittacines.
To educate the public in aviculture and conservation and related avian/human diseases (zoonotic diseases).
Further information
NLPR, over a decade of dedicated work, has received many neglected birds, some with physical and psychological problems. Feather plucking, flesh mutilation, muscle atrophy, infections, injuries and butchered wings are some of the problems we have lovingly cared for.
There is a crisis population of unwanted parrots. Due to their longevity, high intelligence, strong social needs, and the fact this is not in the public eye, NLPR is struggling to keep pace with the demands placed upon its services.
The time has come when we need to relocate and build a sanctuary …… to put into place a large parrot rescue, rehabilitation, education and awareness facility for us to continue and expand our valuable work and help more needy parrots today and those of tomorrow.
To this purpose, in October 2007, NLPR launched its £1M ‘Relocation Appeal’. To kick start this important initiative, we have featured a flash programme on the NLPR web site at www.nlpr.org.uk where donors can buy a virtual brick to help build the sanctuary. NLPR has £30,000 in its appeal pot but we are looking to accumulate further financial injections from interested donors, as we must complete this project by 2010 for the sake of furthering NLPR’s objects.
NLPR has a detailed business plan for its Relocation Appeal and is available upon request.
The clock is ticking whilst NLPR rescued birds and those of today and the future wait in the wings.

RE: Which charities have e-marketing reach?
Hello
I work for the Woodland Trust and we’d be very interested to talk to you about your proposition. We are due to launch a new website in April but currently our monthly web visitor sessions are over 400,000, we send out a regular e-newsletter to over 80,000 people and our online kids club website has received over 1.3million visitors with more than 801,000 downloads so far.
The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity owning over 1000 sites open free of charge for the public to enjoy. Our vision is to protect what we have, restore what has been spoilt and create new woods for the future to make our countryside friendlier for people and wildlife. We have a track history of running many successful corporate partnerships and we are always looking at new and innovative ways to engage people.
I hope that we can have a chat to see if a partnership could be mutually beneficial.
Best wishes
Caroline

Charities with good e-marketing reach
Three suggestions that could help:
Beat Bullying has had massive success using all the modern e-marketing you can think of, and has won various awards for this.
The Woodland Trust apparently has very good reach too, and also fits your criteria.
Battersea Cats & Dogs Home is developing fast in this area as well.
Results of this inquiry
Hi, Raam,
I wonder what results you have had, and if they will be made public? It would be wonderful to have some sites to point to as great models of emarketing, or some pointers on how you evaluated them. Perhaps you have constructed a list of Best Practices drawn from your evaluations of these sites? Could you share any of your results here?

RE: Which charities have e-marketing reach?
Hi there,
I am involved with Action Duchenne, the principal UK charity for funding research for a cure and promoting campaigns for better medical care for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne is so severe that young men are totally paralysed by late teens and die young from respiratory or heart failure.
The charity is desperately underfunded and relies on a handful of full-time staff.
Action Duchenne would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact, the CEO, Nic k Catlin, on 07920 723490, or the Operations Manager, Judy Platts on 07920 723485.
best wishes,
