Are Charity Christmas Cards A Rip-off?

Submitted by andrewrainsford on 2 November, 2007 - 18:19.

I always thought that charity Christmas cards were a
rip-off where Christmas card companies pocketed most of the money for themselves and then gave a tiny percentage of the profit to charities.

I now know that this is not the case after reading this really good article all about charity Christmas cards. Have a look for yourselves here.

RE: Are Charity Christmas Cards A Rip-off?

Yes, Cards for Good Causes is one of the longer-established charity Christmas cards sales organisations, and, as the trading company of a registered charity, they've demonstrated
that it is possible to deliver a good return to charities on sales.

Of course, some commercial outlets don't offer such good returns. The Charities Advisory Trust works to change this, and each year announces a 'Scrooge Award' as part of its Christmas Card Awards in which it highlights a company that it says really should donate a higher percentage of sales to the beneficiary charity/ies:
