Planning, Structure and Governance

Fact: more development programmes in educational institutions fail because of inadequate planning and an ineffective governance structure than for any other reason.

To raise funds, you must have an agreed plan, a group of people who lead the way, and a no-nonsense programme of getting others involved in accomplishing these goals. Creating and disseminating a plan which everyone can support is the first step towards seeking philanthropic funds, followed by putting the appropriate leadership structure in place. If your institution is thinking about creating a separate foundation, building a Board Committee responsible for fundraising, or initiating a development programme, this seminar will address all the options for success. The options, costs and pitfalls are discussed and explained.

Heads, Bursars and Governors, as well as Development professionals, who are tasked with the challenge of raising funds for their institutions will benefit from the examples from other schools and institutions.
