EAPG London Roundtable 19 May 2008 5.30-7.00pm

Discussion Leaders:
Katharine Barber, Capital Community Foundation
Susan Mackenzie, Philanthropy UK
Clare Brooks, Community Foundation Network
Clive Cutbill, Withers LLP

Philanthropy UK’s 2007 report “Wealth and Philanthropy: the views of those that advise the rich” highlighted 5 key findings. Compared to five years ago, advisors believe that:

1. More wealthy people are giving.
2. More people are giving during their lifetime.
3. Donors are increasingly concerned about how effectively and efficiently their money will be spent.
4. Feelings of financial insecurity are less of a barrier to giving.
5. More individuals are seeking professional philanthropy advisory services.

This interactive session will further explore the role of philanthropy for the wealth advisor in the UK. We are keen to encourage as much experience from the floor as possible.

Topics will include:
• How is philanthropy impacting the role of the wealth advisor in the UK?
• How, when and why do wealth advisors raise the topic of philanthropy with clients?
• What are the benefits and risks in talking about philanthropy with clients?
• How do you navigate through the ‘philanthropic advisory bodies’?
• How can Community Foundations help advisors serve their clients?
