Report from UK's first nfptweetup

Recent News

Around 30 people from the charity sector or with an interest in it gathered above a Soho bar in London for the UK's first tweetup for the charity sector.

A tweetup is a meeting of people to discuss Twitter, the micro-blogging tool, or perhaps also one that has been initiated by using Twitter.

Organised by charity new media expert Rachel Beer and sponsored by Justgiving, the four-hour event enabled a wide variety of people to meet, share ideas and inspiration, and find out more about how charities and voluntary organisations are using Twitter and could make even better use of it.

In the spirit of sharing, some of the participants put together a joint Powerpoint so that they could share a tip, an idea, or an example of Twitter in action by charities.

(Incidentally, this slideshow was named a slideshow of the day at Slideshare).

The event was organised by The Charity Place, a new online forum for charity sector staff or those who work with charities "to provide opportunities to connect, collaborate, learn and share".
