"HealthProm's website was hailed as an example of good practice in the sector at the recent Charity and Associations Exhibition,
for its use of viral marketing, encouraging supporters to adopt a HealthProm autosignature. UK Fundraising first picked
this up at the end of last year. HealthProm’s website has again featured on the front page of the UK’s leading
fundraising website, UKFundraising -generating many more hits! - this time for our HealthProm Wish List Why not visit the site now and see what all the fuss is about?"

"UK FUNDRAISING
For UK and International news on-line go to http://www.fundraising.co.uk the website of UK Fundraising. It has just announced its 5,000th subscriber! Congratulations to Howard Lake who set it up and has edited it with flair and imagination for seven years.
UK Fundraising website also gives fundraisers, whether inside or outside the UK, information to help them plan fundraising strategy from UK sources, and it is completely
free.
The site is currently undergoing a "make-over" that will, it is promised, if the necessary funds can be identified, help fundraisers find relevant information faster and reduce charities’ fundraising expenditure. The search is on for a site sponsor to realise these plans. More information is posted on the site.
Wherever you are in the world you can sign up for regular updates, and you can join the email discussion forum covering all aspects of UK fundraising. It is a moderated forum which means that Howard makes sure that emails are to the point and not too long.
This combination of news and the discussion is an excellent way to keep up with and contribute if you wish to know what is happening in the UK charity sector."

"[UK
Fundraising] is an exceptional service to fundraisers maintained and developed by Howard Lake. It has extensive coverage of all that is new in UK fundraising and a host of features and services. If you have not already visited the site I would recommend that you spend plenty of time browsing through it until you are quite familiar with all it has to offer, and then come back to the site on a regular basis has it is frequently updated. It also has a host of jumping-off points (links) to other organisations and fundraising discussion groups."

"Who
is it? Charity website found at www.fundraising.co.uk.
Who is it for? As the name implies, charity and voluntary sector staff facing the frustrations of fundraising.
What does it claim? To be the 'leading internet resource for professional charity and non-profit fundraisers in the UK and beyond'.
So what does it do? Provides charities and fundraisers with up-to-date information on fundraising issues.
Scope of content Very broad. Offers books, consultants, email discussion lists, events, funding, grants, magazines,
non-profit resources, products, professional organisations, research papers, services and software.
Navigation of content Hit and miss. Easy and quick, but at time of rating, some links did not go through or were out of date. There's no direct link back to the original homepage.
Look and feel A friendly and interesting read. Good use of colours.
Best features News features and very broad scope of content. Lots to look at.
Worst feature Navigation. There's no place like the homepage.
So what do we think? This website has a lot of information and makes for interesting reading. Potentially very useful.

"Then I went to www.fundraising.co.uk, which seemed informative but it was more a magazine for fundraisers, so there was no chance of donating. However, it did include the shameful information that, on average, each UK household donated £4.40 to charity in 1997/98. But don't feel too bad, it has actually gone up from an impressive £4.06 in 1994/96."

This great site has a clear layout, including very well-organised content on the homepage.
Being the first page that your visitors will see, this is extremely important. The UK

Prominent links like this attract those visitors who only spend time viewing the headlines

My favourite fundraising Web site
This outstanding website for fundraisers comes out of England: "UK Fundraising,"
managed by Howard Lake, is a gem. Includes essays, events, publications, and links to an
interesting assortment of websites that do online fundraising. Refreshing to get a
different perspective on NPs and giving from a European point of view, too. You'll find it
at www.fundraising.co.uk.

If I were a charity I'd be on the Internet... Howard Lake's
research into electronic information resources for fundraisers worldwide led him to set up
the UK Fundraising World Wide Web Page to demonstrate the Internet's potential to the
sector: www.fundraising.co.uk
Howard Lake has been appointed director at Fundraising UK Ltd, the Internet fundraising consultancy for charities. He joins from Amnesty International UK.
Today, charities and other groups are increasingly using the Internet to raise funds. In terms of legislation there are no legal guidelines covering on-line fundraising, but it would be safe to assume that all UK charity law applies to this activity.
Despite the current extent of on-line fundraising activities, there is very little case law concerning it. You do not have to be a registered charity for on-line fundraising. If you are a
registered charity, ensure that your charity number appears on all Web pages which request
donations. If you would like to view some examples of on-line fundraising, visit the website http://www.fundraising.co.uk/examples.html.
For further information and advice contact Howard Lake, director of Fundraising UK Ltd,
the Internet fundraising consultancy and training organisation, on 01206 579081.
Another useful source of information is Direct
Connection's guide to Fundraising on the Internet by Howard Lake (Aurelian
Information, £12.99). The book is available from most good bookshops, or contact Aurelian

Howard Lake has set up one of the first fundraising discussion lists for the UK voluntary sector. Sponsored by Direct Connection, the list is called FundUK. It is easy to join up (and also to unsubscribe)... Howard's discussion list does not restrict itself to the Internet or fundraising technology. Rather it is an arena to discuss any topical fundraising issue, or to raise specific fundraising questions.
Howard Lake has set up a site on the Web called UK Fundraising at www.fundraising.co.uk. This provides an excellent on-line source of advice, pointers and real illustrations of Web fundraising. There are reviews, details of helpful magazines, links to software and useful products as well as details of courses and events. Howard Lake has produced a book called Direct Connection's guide to Fundraising on the Internet, published by Aurelian Information Ltd, which can be ordered securely online from the UK Fundraising Bookshop.
There is also a useful guide called Direct Connection's guide to Fundraising on the Internet, by Howard Lake, published by Aurelian Information Limited and sponsored by Internet Service Providers Direct Connection.
Howard Lake has set up a consultancy called Fundraising UK Ltd which provides training and advice on Internet fundraising. He can be contacted on +44 (0)1206 579081 or hlake@fundraising.co.uk.
.
Howard Lake's site www.fundraising.co.uk and his book Direct Connection's guide to Fundraising on the Internet (ISBN 1-899247-06-8) provided numerous leads for this pocketbook, and his Web site continues to be a mine of information for fundraisers using the Internet.

"[Rating: 4 out of 5 stars]
It's good to see more sites like this appearing on the Internet, an area devoted to those people who are involved in charities or some sort of fund raising. On here you'll find lots of information of great use such as a list of charity events happening in the near future, courses that can be taken, vacancies at charities, magazines and press for charities and a list of links to other relevant resources on the Internet. There are other headings as well, but as yet their contents have not been put on line."

www.fundraising.co.uk/
The page lists fundraising discussion lists, upcoming seminars and events, service organisations, magazines, vacancies, and other not-for-profit Internet resources. It also has examples of online fundraising appeals by various charities.
Howard Lake, the creator of the page and a professional fundraiser for seven years, says "I hope the UK Fundraising web page will act as a practical example to the UK voluntary sector of what can and should be done with the medium of public electronic communications."
