This course will look at the barriers facing potential volunteers and organisations offering volunteer roles. The course will offer an impartial, non-judgemental and practical approach to involving ex-offenders and homeless individuals as volunteers. The course is aimed at volunteer managers and co-ordinators who are involved in recruiting or supervising volunteers.

We will look at:

  • Current legislation, CRB requirements and recruitment practices.
  • Dilemmas, isssues or problems that you may have within your organisation, that we can work on, to resolve together.
  • Best practice and solutions offered in the sector and beyond.
  • The benefits to your organisation of involving people from these backgrounds.
  • Understanding how you can make volunteering work for all involved.

This course will help participants understand the issues faced by homeless people and ex-offenders, and will explore the ways in which you can make adjustments to your own processes and procedures to help overcome these issues.

Harrogate Volunteer Centre have receieved funding to offer additional follow on support to your organisation should you decide to begin recruiting volunteers from this cohort.
