Required, for autumn 2008 or earlier, an experienced development professional to continue the excellent work already undertaken in creating an ongoing income stream of voluntary support and to initiate further successful capital campaigns. Reporting to the Head Mistress and Governors, the post will be a part of the School’s Senior Management Team and the Development Director will be expected to take an active part in all aspects of the School community.

The Godolphin and Latymer School, situated on a four-acre site just off Hammersmith Broadway, is a well-run and academically high-powered girls’ day school of some 700 pupils which achieves excellent examination results and sends many pupils on to Oxbridge.

The development office has been in existence for over five years and has a well established annual fund. A capital programme begun in 2006 has raised some £2.2m of a £2.5m target. With three support staff, the office possesses a well-populated relational database (Raiser’s Edge) and enjoys excellent relations with both the alumnae association (the ODA) and the parents/friends association (PTFA).

The School has ambitious development plans and is looking to generate a further £10m over the next seven years. The successful candidate will be a central figure in these plans and will be expected to develop a fundraising strategy to achieve these goals.

Candidates should have experience of fundraising at a senior level (preferably in education) and empathy with the principles and ethos of the independent school sector. An excellent and highly competitive salary and benefits package will be available to successful applicant.

The closing date for applications is June 1. Short-listed applicants will be invited for an informal tour of the School and the development office on a day prior to the interviews which will be held on June 11 when the interviewees will be required to make a short presentation.

Applicants may have an informal discussion with the consultant to the Trustees, Julian Smyth of ASK Associates, by telephoning 01494 447115 or 07798 826105. Further details are available from Mr Smyth, and from the ASK Associates’ website (www.ask.org.uk), to whom interested parties should apply with a covering letter and full CV (preferably by email) to:
