The Funding Network (TFN) was founded by four philanthropists who wanted to create a setting where members of the public could hear presentations by a small group of pre-selected charities (particularly those that find public fundraising difficult), and where funds could be raised to make their projects happen. We have been variously described as a public giving club, a Dragon’s Den for charitable giving, and as speed dating for philanthropists, and we are the only organisation of our kind. Those who attend talk about the privilege of actually meeting inspiring, dedicated people working for social change, about the warmth and friendliness of the atmosphere, about their amazement at what relatively small amounts of money can help achieve – and about their pleasure in helping to contribute that money.

Since 2002 we have raised almost £2m for 300+ charities and helped establish TFN groups across the UK and overseas.

We now wish to appoint our first executive director to lead the next phase of TFN’s development. We have ambitious plans to expand the number of giving groups in the UK and abroad. By doing so we hope to educate more people about the value of social change projects and create a platform for giving that has a profound effect on philanthropic habits in the UK.

This is a wonderful opportunity to spearhead the development of a small, flexible and well-connected charity. Applicants may come from a wide variety of backgrounds, but should be excellent networkers with a passion for philanthropy. For further details and details on how to apply visit www.thefundingnetwork.org.uk The closing date for applications is the 28th of August, 2008.
