UK Fundraising launches monthly photo competitions on Flickr

Howard Lake | 6 February 2009 | Blogs

UK Fundraising has been sharing fundraising photos and images via Flickr for some time now:

and we’ve noticed some charities using it too. But we reckon lots more haven’t dipped their toes into this powerful tool for fundraising, communications and online community building.
So, we’re launching a monthly competition for the best fundraising photo, image or screenshot, submitted on a particular topic.
Which topic? Well, we are in the lucky position of receiving books about fundraising for review and coverage on UK Fundraising.
So, the topic of each month’s competition will be the topic of the book that is the prize on offer.
We start things with John Baguley’s best-selling “Successful Fundraising” (2nd edition).
So, do you have any photos that sum up or communicate successful fundraising? Why not enter them into the UK Fundraising group on Flickr?
Not sure how to do that? First you’ll need to register (for free) on Flickr.com, then upload the photos to your account on the site. Then, you can visit our competition page at
Walk this way
and click on the “add photos or video” link.
We’re starting off by welcoming fundraising photos from anywhere, not just the UK, but only photos from people/organisations based in the UK and Ireland are eligible for the competition: we’ll only post the prize to a UK or Ireland address.
Want to see the entries we’ve received this afternoon just from inviting a few people using Twitter? Here they are:

Created with Admarket’s flickrSLiDR.
Good luck! The first winner will be announced on 1 March 2009.
Any publishers who’d like their book featured as a prize (we’ve got quite a few months covered already), do get in touch with hl***@fu*********.uk.
Is this competition a little familiar? Yes, we can’t claim to be innovative with this idea. Thank you to Professional Fundraising magazine for the idea.
