Nigel Harris is to be the new Chief Executive at New Philanthropy Capital (NPC), taking over from Bernard Mercer who is to work on environmental issues for the organisation.
Nigel, who has been a member of the management team of the organisation for the past two years, takes up his new role on 18 October 2004.
As Head of Advisory, he has focused on the development of NPC’s advisory work with both funders and charities, as well as defining the future marketing and sales strategy.
New Philanthropy Capital was set up to develop and encourage more effective philanthropy, and to increase the quality and quantity of funding available.
Prior to joining NPC in April 2002, Nigel was a consultant to international relief and development agency Tearfund. Before that, he worked as an investment banker at Schroders for twelve years, where he was a senior director managing the bank’s foreign exchange and interest rate trading teams.
