Givey powers new corporate giving site for London Midland

Howard Lake | 17 January 2014 | Newswire

Social giving platform Givey has helped one of the UK’s busiest train companies, London Midland, to launch a unique real-time giving website. Powered by Givey’s API, and with all donations facilitated through the Givey platform, the site provides an easy way for employees to find and support causes they care about, and for the company to instantly match all donations.

Every member of the 2,500 workforce is being invited to the London Midland Giving website to support their colleagues and choose a charity of their own to raise money for. The company then adds 50p to every £1 donated or raised by employees. All activities are collated on the site, creating a real-time story of all the good work staff are doing for causes including Railway Children, British Heart Foundation, and local charities like Willen Hospice.

Behind the scenes, London Midland can login to their Givey for Business account to set monthly budgets for matching, as well as limits per person and for individual donations. Givey handles all donations, and matching is made in real-time the moment a donation is made. This process reduces the cost and time of administering the programme, and makes it much easier to share the good work being done by employees and company alike.

It was the social side of the Givey platform that first caught the attention of Internal Communications & Engagement Manager Rich Baker: “Givey for Business has supercharged our fundraising matching scheme. Not only does it make it really easy for us to support the causes our employees care about, it allows them to share their fundraising efforts using the power of social media. That means more exposure for the charity, and more money raised.”

First to use the platform was Delivery Manager Craig Gould who raised 146% of his £500 target, and another 12 employees have already followed his lead – leading to 95 matched donations within the site’s opening weeks. The company has also noticed a massive increase in the number of employees who view London Midland as a socially responsible employer – up from 44% to 84% since the trial with Givey started back in Autumn 2013.

NOTES:

Givey is a social giving platform that charges 0% commission on all donations. At least 10% of all donations through the Givey platform get matched by a corporate supporter, and the vision is that by 2015, 50% of donations will get matched.

Givey will soon be driving a 60 Day Fundraising Campaign, with a target of £600,000, through the relatively new medium of crowd funding.
Companies can sign up online for a free trial of Givey for Business to match employee fundraising.
