London traders’ association chooses charity of the year

The Belgravia Traders Association in London’s West End has chosen eye research charity Fight for Sight as its charity of the year.
The Association holds the annual Elizabeth Street Summer party on Grosvenor’s London estate in Belgravia in June. The street’s shops include fashion and style brands including Donna Ida, Jenny Packham, Jo Loves and Peggy Porschen.
On 11 June it closes to traffic for five hours in the evening and the charity has a substantial presence. There will be a children’s party, and the BTA bar will donate a percentage of sales to the charity. Visitors to the street are invited to make a suggested donation of £10 per adult when entering the street party.
Fight for Sight has already partnered with the Association when it joined in the celebrations at the Elizabeth Street Christmas Market last year, which featured singers Adele and Robbie Williams.

Julian Jackson, Director of Development at Fight for Sight, will speak at the street party of his first-hand experience of sight loss.
He said:

“We are delighted that Fight for Sight has been chosen as the Belgravia Trader’s Association’s beneficiary charity. We’ve experienced the atmosphere at the Christmas market and it’s a great event, not only for the community but for tourists too. We hope that it will attract many people from far and wide, whilst raising the profile of the charity, as well as raising funds to help support the vital work we do to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease.”
