Plan UK launches Girls Get Together fundraising campaign

International children’s charity Plan UK has announced a new fundraising campaign, Girls Get Together. The charity is encouraging women to meet up with their friends for a coffee morning, afternoon tea or even a film night.
Those taking part in the social activity would then donate what they would usually spend on a similar event to Plan’s Because I am a Girl campaign. This aims to help some of the poorest girls in the world finish their education, be protected from violence, and by giving them the confidence and skills to stand up for their rights.

Tanya Barron, Chief Executive of Plan UK explained:

“Holding a Girls Get Together is a simple way to help girls across the world stand up for their rights.
“No-one bears the brunt of poverty more than girls. Kept out of school, subjected to violence and denied a voice, millions of girls around the world are robbed of their childhoods and denied the right to reach their full potential.”

The charity is offering a fundraising pack to anyone that wants to take part. This includes personalised bunting to boost the party atmosphere. Not surprisingly, Plan UK is encouraging participants in the fundraising events to take a selfie and share it online with the hashtag #girlsgettogether.
