The Guide to Grants for Individuals in Need 24/25 - hold an umbrella over someone's head

UK Fundraising is 20 today

Twenty years ago the very first page of UK Fundraising was published, the beginning of the world’s first website for professional charity fundraisers. Two decades on the site is still sharing practical fundraising news and advice from a variety of sources, and helping fundraisers connect with each other and with useful resources.
Having highlighted the value of digital tools in all aspects of fundraising from 1994, we know we have managed to help many fundraisers generate funds to support and grow their charitable causes over the years.
In doing so, we have remained independent (financially and editorially) and free – we don’t charge for access to our site. The site has been entirely self-funded: we have never received any funding to build or develop the site.
As I’ve noted on all our earlier anniversaries, I am certainly proud of what the site (and all its social channels) has achieved and demonstrated. It has led to us running many successful events and training courses, developing valuable partnerships with other sector providers, and undertaking a great deal of work supporting charities large and small in making the most of digital tools.
At the same time, it has done so thanks to the help, interest, support, content and goodwill of very many people and organisations. Thank you all.
Recently I spoke to my friends at Magneto Films about why and how I created UK Fundraising, and what I believe it has achieved over 20 years.
