Royal Mail Group delivers three grants totalling £50k for Christmas

Royal Mail Group has donated £50,000 to three charities to help them support communities across the UK over the festive period. The funding will help vulnerable people and those who need assistance over Christmas, including carers, the elderly and those who have been bereaved.
The three charities are The Silver Line, Cruse Bereavement Care and Carers UK.
The donations are part of Royal Mail Groups support of communities across the UK. During 2013-14 the company donated £9.8m to charities and good causes.
The Silver Line runs a free, confidential helpline service providing information, friendship and advice to older people all year round. The donation will enable 3,500 lonely older people to get a special phone call on Christmas Day so at least one person will wish them Merry Christmas and have a chat with them.
Cruse Bereavement Care supports people who have suffered a devastating loss at the passing of a loved one. The donation will support the charity’s work in responding to 1,800 calls over the Christmas period.
Carers UK offers assistance, practical advice and guidance to carers across the UK. The Royal Mail donation means that local carers groups will be provided with grants so they can help offer a much needed festive treat to around 2,000 carers nationwide.

Lily Heinemann, Head of Corporate Responsibility & Community Investment for Royal Mail Group said:
“We’re delighted to be supporting these three charities this Christmas, who all play a vital role in helping communities across the UK. Their work is making a real difference to people’s lives and we hope our donation will help those in need have a better Christmas”.

If your charity hasn’t benefited this time, try asking your supporters to see if any of them work for Royal Mail Group. In 2013-14 the Group provided almost £690,000 in matched giving to support employees’ fundraising for around 344 charities all around the UK.
Royal Mail employees are also payroll giving donors: earlier this year the company celebrated reaching 25 years and £50 million in charitable donations through its payroll giving scheme.
