New FAQ section from Institute of Fundraising

Do I need a licence to collect money on the street or to go from door to door? What are the rules for putting on an auction? How long can I hold donors information for?
These are just some of the common questions answered by the Institute of Fundraising in a new Frequently Asked Questions section on its website.
Joan Fisher, Head of Membership at the Institute, last week contacted members to let them know of the new resource. She explained:

“To try and make it easier for you to get the guidance you need we’ve put together some answers to the most commonly asked fundraising questions”.

The FAQ currently consists of 39 questions, divided into eight topics covering:
• general information
• picking a cause
• how fundraising is regulated
• questions on fundraising activities
• data protection
• tax-effective giving
• people
• fundraising statistics and information
The section is designed to give a brief answer to key questions faced by many fundraisers. Of course, further information is available in the Institute’s Code of Fundraising Practice.
Members are invited to suggest other common questions that they think should be added to the resource.
