CabGo taxi app raises funds for charity from every journey

Howard Lake | 13 July 2015 | News

CabGo is a taxi app with a difference: every time it is used to book a ride it will generate a 10p donation to the charity selected by the passenger.
Cabgo takes 50p from a driver’s fare for booking the ride, and donates 10p of that to the customer’s chosen charity. There is no cost to the passenger.
The app can be used to hail or book a taxi. Drivers using it can accept cash, credit/debit card payments, and there is a facility to set up corporate accounts.
Charities aren’t the only beneficiaries. A loyalty scheme is built into the system: passengers can benefit from ‘cab miles’ and drivers benefit from earning cash rewards.

Each charity that is associated with CabGo has their own unique promo code. When passengers choose a particular charity, CabGo will donate 10p each and every time a booking is made through the app and completed.
The Liverpool-based company has already partnered with 12 local charities including Alder Hey, Nugent Care, Toxteh Fire Fit Hub, and of course the Liverpool Taxi Drivers Children in Care Outing Fund. A company spokesperson told UK Fundraising:

“We will be working with a set number of local and national charities”.

It launched in Liverpool and is expanding to cover Salford, Chester, Wirral, St Helens, Warrington, Runcorn and Widnes.

Charity days

Partner charities will also benefit from special days during the year where they will receive the benefits of every taxi booked through the CabGo app during that 24 hour period.
The CabGo app is available on iOS and Android.
