£20,000 funding for community kitchens from Stoves

Howard Lake | 21 July 2015 | News

British cooking appliance brand, Stoves, is offering £20,000 in prizes to transform kitchen facilities in community projects across the UK as part of its ‘Community Kitchens’ campaign.
Two overall winners will each receive £5,000 in prizes, and the silver and bronze winners will respectively receive £3,000 and £2,000 in Stoves appliance packages.
To be eligible, the nominated projects must “be owned, developed and led by the communities they serve”.
Applications and nominations will be accepted via the Stoves website and should explain in no more than 300 words why the initiative deserves to win. A shortlist will be drawn up and then put to the public vote.
Denver Hewlett, Chief Executive of Stoves, said:

“We wanted to launch a campaign which would make the kitchen the hub of the local community and give deserving projects access to the latest appliances. Nominated projects could include initiatives such as the refit of a village hall kitchen, community centre, women’s refuge or a cookery school. Whatever it is, we want to hear about it.”

The closing date for entries to the first Community Kitchens competition is 13 September 2015.
