Tenth Avenue North To Host Celebrity Charity Golf
Christian pop/rock band Tenth Avenue North recently announced the 2013 Tenth Avenue North Classic celebrity golf tournament to take place on August 12.
The tournament will be co-hosted by Tenth Avenue North and PGA Tour Winner Kevin Streelman. Teeing off at Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh, North Carolina, the event was organized to support Compassion International and other ministries including CRU-RDU and College Golf Fellowship. Celebrities in attendance will include Tenth Avenue North, rock band NEEDTOBREATHE, six-time GRAMMY winner TobyMac, PGA Tour Winner Streelman and a number of other PGA, NFL and NASCAR professional athletes.
“As a band, we are incredibly excited to host our first golf tournament with our close friend PGA Pro Kevin Streelman,” said Jeff Owen, Tenth Avenue North. “We have a passion for golf but also to see the needs of the world met. What better way than to combine the two in support of our longtime partners, Compassion International Cru and College Golf Fellowship.”

Fans of music, fashion and comedy will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bid on signature items including an Olly Murs signed trilby hat and Chrissie Hynde’s Stella McCartney boots.

John Mayer's Tour Benefits Veterans With Post Traumatic Stress
John Mayer is using the U.S. portion of his new tour to heighten awareness of and raise funds for military veterans suffering from the effects of post traumatic stress.
One dollar from each tour ticket sold will fund PTS-related programs created by Mayer and the Northern California Institute for Research and Education.
Mayer kicked off his first tour in three years in Milwaukee on July 6. Rolling Stone reviewed the tour opener, saying that “Saturday’s show may be remembered for its heavy dose of new material and Mayer’s vocal rejuvenation. But in the moment it felt most special because [Mayer] looked thrilled to be back.” The 40-stop U.S tour continues through early October, with support act Phillip Phillips (“Home,” “Gone, Gone, Gone”) for most U.S. shows. Mayer was also just announced on the lineup for the Global Poverty Project benefit concert in Central Park on September 28.

Kevin Nealon Helps Out With PETA's SNIPmobile
Between his performances at the Funny Bone in Virginia Beach last weekend, Saturday Night Live alum Kevin Nealon hit the parking lot of PETA's Norfolk headquarters, posing for photos, cracking jokes, and greeting families who brought dogs and cats to the group’s “SNIPmobile” clinic, which offers low- to no-cost sterilization and other veterinary services.

“Nobody would trust me to neuter their dog, and nobody should — so it’s a good thing that PETA’s got veterinarians to do it,” says Nealon. “It’s not rocket science: Every homeless puppy and kitten was born to parents who weren’t spayed or neutered. Deering Banjo Company is thrilled to announce the launch of the Lewes Gentlemen of the Road Banjo Charity Auction featuring the first of five truly unique banjos signed by Mumford & Sons.
In 2012 Mumford & Sons began the Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers, a global series of events in small cities and towns around the world. The vision was to create a music festival that celebrates local people, food, and culture, where everyone pitches in and everybody gets something back. It is in this spirit that Deering Banjos was inspired to create something truly special. Deering has created five one of a kind Gentlemen of the Road Banjos – one for each Stopover – signed by all four members of the band. The banjos will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to a charity of the bands choice that best compliments each Stopover location.
The first stop on the 2013 Gentlemen of the Road tour is Lewes, UK near the coastal town of Brighton. The Lewes Stopover kicks off on Friday July 19th with performances from British favorites Vampire Weekend, British Sea Power amongst others. The show continues on Saturday afternoon as Mumford & Sons’ anticipated headline slot is supported by performances from The Mystery Jets, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Deap Vally among others. Arsenal Donates To Save The Children Project In Indonesia
Arsenal has committed to fund a £300,000 new project in Indonesia for Save the Children.
Arsenal, through The Arsenal Foundation, has committed to donate the money over three years to fund a project that will directly support 4,000 vulnerable young people by providing them with enhanced vocational education and employment skills.
To formally announce the new programme yesterday, eight youngsters, who will benefit from the project in Bandung, West Java, were invited to the capital, Jakarta, to join a special activity session with Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger and young players Chuks Aneke and Chuba Akpom.

DeSean Jackson Documentary Screening To Benefit Charity
#10 DeSean Jackson: The Making of a Father’s Dream, the documentary by Jackson’s brother Byron Jackson and Hollywood Director Kern Konwiser will screen Wednesday, July 17 at the Horizon Casino & Resort, during the 24th American Century Celebrity Championship Tournament in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

An Evening With Graham Nash To Raise Money For Charity
Legendary singer-songwriter Graham Nash will perform a series of “An Evening With” concerts in the eastern United States this September, during a break in Crosby, Stills and Nash's 2013 tour (which ends in the UK in October).
The tour kicks off on September 11 at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, VT, and concludes September 29 at the Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, NY. Highlights also include shows at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA, the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, MA, and multiple nights at City Winery in New York City.

Kofi Annan Announces New Elders
Hina Jilani, internationally known human rights defender from Pakistan, and Ernesto Zedillo, former President of Mexico, have joined The Elders, a group of independent leaders working for peace, justice and human rights.
Their appointment was announced by Kofi Annan, Chair of the group first convened by Nelson Mandela in 2007.

Ed Sheeran Performs In Nashville For Charity
On Monday, July 8, 107.5 The River hosted its STAR PARTY at Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Nashville, a benefit show featuring rising star musician, English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.
All of the proceeds from the night went towards Musicians on Call (MOC), an organization that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. The event raised over $22,500 for the Nashville branch of MOC – which is more than enough to fund one of its 11 weekly Bedside Performance Programs for a full year.
Sheeran received an overwhelming ovation from the sold-out crowd for his solo-acoustic set which included hits “The A Team” and “Lego House,” as well as fan favorites like the energetic “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You.” The GRAMMY-nominated Brit rocker has developed a strong following in the U.S. with back-to-back sold out headlining tours and countless national television appearances. Sheeran is currently supporting Taylor Swift on her North American RED Tour.

Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl who was shot by the Taliban for attending classes, on Friday addressed hundreds of young people at the United Nations, urging them to use education as a weapon against extremism.
