If you haven't joined agoodcause do so now

The 'give while you shop' website www.agoodcause.com whose launch I reported on 5 Oct seems to be taking off - in the UK and the US at least. So far 159,913 users have signed up across the eight countries where the organisation operates, and already an amazing £358,298 ($632,062)has been generated for around 500 charities.

I said in my previous post that this has the potential to be big. To get an idea of how big look at www.onecause.com a similar site operating in the US which launched in 1999. So far onecause has raised $211 million for 30,000 nonprofits and schools from nearly 700,000 users.

One feature I like on onecause is the ability to register store cards with the site so that you contribute even when shopping in the real world. Onecause also offers its own affinity visa card. Perhaps agoodcause will be able to develop similar deals in Europe - something to explore in future.

The continental European countries served by agoodcause seem to be slow to wake up to the potential, but UK fundraisers seem to have grasped the opportunity. There were around 30 UK charities listed on the site when I first looked at it, now there are over 200. It you haven't registered yet get on there - and tell you supporters about it so they start contributing to your income everytime they shop online. If you know any fundraisers in Italy, France, Germany, Holland or the Nordic countries tell them too.
