Tempting prospect researchers with free books in Bristol!

Recent News

Did you see the recent reports in the press about the landlords of the premises of Bristol’s BookBarn opening its doors to all comers to come and help themselves to books? The lease had expired, and the company was unable to remove all the books. Needless to say, I pottered along there, and staggered back home with a pile of books - something for all the family.

One of the books that I collected was the 1971 edition of “Harrow School Register”. I had forgotten about school year books as a prospect research resource, and it will be interesting to see how useful this proves to be. It appears to list home addresses, and could prove handy for local/regional research on new prospects.

Of course, my son insisted on a mad dash after school, so that he could look for himself, just as they were trying to usher everyone out of the building.

Yes, I did spot that in the news, Finbar, and was pleased to see that some charities were able to get there and pick up some free books to sell in their shops.

I only regret I didn't hear about it in time as I'd have happily shared details via this site or perhaps our Twitter account.

Still, very glad you got there and found a useful prospect research title under the mounds.
