N Ireland fundraisers recognised

The hard work of volunteer and professional fundraisers was recognised recently at the Institute of Fundraising Northern Ireland Annual Convention.

The awards were set up by the Institute in 2005 to formally recognise excellence in fundraising. Since then, every year charities and community groups have submitted entries in two categories: Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year and Fundraising Event/Campaign of the Year.

Mencap’s event “The Y Factor” scooped the Fundraising Event/Campaign Award. Appealing to a very broad range of Belfast businesses the event was unique and highly entertaining and raised a tremendous £16,858. A take on the popular X Factor, it called on budding business men and women to sing their way to success in front of their friends and colleagues.

Heather Pollock, a volunteer fundraiser with Clic Sargent NI was crowned Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year.

Sponsored by Unity Trust Bank the awards were presented by Lindsay Boswell, Chief Executive, Institute of Fundraising and Amanda Brobyn NI Development Manager, Unity Trust Bank.
