Via fax or e-mail it offers "a menu of ideas, information, opinion, news, and resources to help board members give and get the most out of board service."
Published by the Support Center for Nonprofit Management, the first issue appeared in November 1997. Thanks to the Charles Schwab Corporation Foundation and others, subscriptions to the Board Cafe are free.
In a good example of openness and accountability the publishers state that the e-mail/fax mailing list "is not rented, exchanged, or given to any other entity."
