New integrated enquiries service for charities

Tomorrow the Inland Revenue, Customs and Excise and the Charity Commission launch an integrated telephone enquiries service.

From 1 April 2003 the three departments will work together, as recommended in the Review of Charity Taxation, to offer an integrated telephone help line service. Charities will then be able to call one number, charged a local call rates, to get the advice they require.

The new joint help line number is 08453 020203 and it will be available from 8.30 to 6.00pm.

The existing Customs National Advice Service number of 0845 010 9000 and the Charity Commission Contact Centre number 0870 333 0123 will continue to be available. They too have been upgraded to provide a seamless transfer of calls between departments if required.
