Clothes Aid to collect five million bags of clothes for NSPCC

NSPCC launches £2.3m partnership with Clothes Aid
The NSPCC has engaged licensed clothing collection agents Clothes Aid to collect and recycle over five millon bags of unwanted clothing over three years in a bid to raise £2.3 million.

Clothes Aid begins house-to-house collections for the NSPCC across England this month, posting branded collection bags through letterboxes. The NSPCC will receive £75 for every tonne of clothing collected, the equivalent of around 200 bags.

NSPCC head of corporate partnerships Tracy Griffin said: “Having a clothes clear out with Clothes Aid is a great way for people to support the NSPCC during this challenging economic climate. All you have to do is clear out your unwanted clothes, shoes, or other textiles”.

From September 2009 Clothes Aid will also be providing a one-stop collection service, enabling people to organise collections at work or through community centres. Clothing donated via these collections will raise £300 per tonne for the NSPCC.

The company has guaranteed to raise a minimum of £525,000 in the first twelve months of its partnership with the NSPCC.

Clothes Aid raises funds for a number of national and regional charities including, Make A Wish Foundation UK, Barnardos, Noah’s Ark Appeal, Papworth Hospital, Children’s Hospice Association Scotland, Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, and Wellchild.
