IoF's Tax-Effective Giving initiative to close

Helping the penny to drop

The Tax-Effective Giving initiative at the Institute of Fundraising is to close at the end of March as its funding comes to an end.

The initiative has been hosted by the Institute since 2005. Its work has focused on providing information, training and support to charities in England on Gift Aid, Payroll Giving, Gifts of Shares and Legacies, as well as the many other tax reliefs available to charities.

The initiative's microsite will continue to be maintained by the Institute, but the initiative's helpline and email address will close at the end of March.

Announcing the end of the initiative to Institute members, Project Manager Lee Grant commented that some of its tax-effective giving training courses would probably be provided through the Institute of Fundraising Academy. Grant thanked all those who had supported the initiative, and pointed out that since the government-funded initiative began, Gift Aid repayments to the sector had risen from £626 million in 2005 to £1.1 billion in 2010.
