The Pennies Foundation wins Best Not For Profit IT Project Award

The Pennies Foundation has won the Best Not For Profit IT Project Award in the UK IT Industry Awards 2012 for its Pennies microdonations service.

The awards are run by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and Computing magazine.

David Clarke, MBE, Group Chief Executive Officer BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, said: "Our judges were impressed by this exciting and expansive project which gives fresh impetus to community giving."

Pennies enables customers to round-up card purchases and donate their 'electronic' change to charity. 

In total 23 awards were presented covering project, organisation, technology, and individual excellence and included awards such as Security Innovation, Infrastructure Innovation, Business IT Innovation and CIO of the Year. 

Aintree University Hospital Foundation Trust was highly commended in the Not For Profit IT Award category.
