Chartered Institute of Marketing launches group for charity sector marketers

The Chartered Institute of Marketing will next month launch a new group to spport marketers working the charity and not-for-profit sector. The group will be steered by a committee of CIM marketers from the commercial and third sector, and will be charited by Professor Ian Bruce CBE, Founder and President of Centre For Charity Effectiveness, at Cass Business School.

The group will be for marketers who are directly or indirectly working to deliver marketing communication activities, campaigns, fundraising initiatives and services for the charity sector. It is designed to help share good practice between charities, housing associations, universities, independent schools, and philanthropic businesses, with the aim of improving charities' marketing effectiveness.

The group will be launched in London on 14 May. The event will include a keynote speech from Georgie Fienberg, Founder and International Director of AfriKids, about the use of marketing communications to fuel charity profile and growth.

"Marketing is the ideal business method to keep charities focused on their beneficiaries as well as their donors but it is under-utilised. Charities are missing a trick”, said Professor Ian Bruce CBE.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing charity group will be launched at Cass Business School at 6.30 on 14 May. Tickets are £10.
