IKEA founder tops list of 25 wealthiest Europeans
Ingvar Kamprad, founder of IKEA, is the wealthiest European, according to Wealth-X, the ultra high net worth (UNHW) intelligence specialists. He heads their list of the 25 wealthiest individuals in France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.
The total wealth of these 25 is estimated at over $367 billion.
Kamprad himself has a net worth of $43.1 billion. According to Wealth-X, he is "known as much for his immense wealth as for his parsimony; the only luxury he reportedly allows himself is an occasional helping of caviar".

The top 25 in Europe list is dominated by figures in the textiles, apparel and luxury goods sector, which represents 24% of industry sectors featured in the list. This is followed by finance, banking and investment at 16% and food products at 12%.
Mykolas Rambus, CEO, Wealth-X, commented that it is rising demand from a growing middle class across Asia that has contributed to the growth in wealth of these individuals.

According to Wealth-X, the wealthiest Europeans are:
- Ingvar Kamprad, IKEA founder, Switzerland, net worth $43.1 billion
- Bernard Arnault, founder of Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, net worth $28.3 billon
- Liliane Bettencourt, shareholder L'Oreal, net worth $27.2 billion
- Karl Albrecht, co-founder Aldi Sud, net worth $26 billion
- Michele Ferrero, owner Ferrero Group, net worth $23.5 billion
