The first 11 recipients of the new Arts Fundraising Fellowship Programme have been announced. They will have a rare opportunity to learn on the job with a variety of leading arts organisations.

The first Fellows will take part in an intensive 12-month programme, designed to produce the next generation of Development and Fundraising Directors with the skill, entrepreneurial expertise and vision to make a major different to fundraising for arts organisations.

The 11 were chosen from nearly 200 applicants who were then narrowed down to 64 for an assessment day.

The Fellows will work on "high-impact projects" based with host organisations in London, Leeds, Manchester, Gateshead and Liverpool.

Michelle Wright, Programme Director of the Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy Programme, Cause4 said: “The Arts Fundraising Fellowship Programme responds to the shortage of skilled arts fundraisers at a time when many organisations have seen significant cuts and need to be flexible and entrepreneurial in the pursuit of alternative income sources.

"We are aiming to support these 11 Fellows to help redefine the relationships between private and public sector funding leveraging their passion, commitment and know-how to help maximise alternative income streams. We hope, in time, that they become future leaders in this vital field of income generation.”
