HelpAge magazine edition focuses on fundraising

The current issue of Ageways, the bi-annual magazine of HelpAge International, focuses on fundraising advice, with advice from fundraising specialists around the world. It has been published in association with Resource Alliance, the charity which strengthens fundraising capacity of nonprofits around the world, and runs the annual International Fundraising Congress.

The magazine is being destributed to both organisations' global networks of 10,000 organisations. It can also be downloaded for free from the HelpAge International website.

The edition focuses on assisting organisations that work with older people, but much of the material is applicable to a wide range of charities and voluntary organisations, large and small.

Articles focus on issues such as planning a fundraising strategy, how to find and keep donors, branding, sources of funding and proposal writing. UK Fundraising's Howard Lake contributed an article on digital fundraising.

The other contributors were:

Neelam Makhijani, chief executive at the Resource Alliance, said: "A fair and just world requires a strong, sustainable and productive civil society that has access to appropriate skills, knowledge and funding. By building the fundraising capacity of NGOs in this way we can help them achieve a much deeper, wider and sustainable impact.”

Celia Till, editor of Ageways, added: "Older people play a vital part in society and their numbers are increasing, yet they are widely overlooked by development projects. This issue of Ageways brings together the Resource Alliance’s expertise and HelpAge’s experience of fundraising for work with older people, with inspiring examples from our partners and programmes in Ethiopia, Germany, India, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Vietnam."
