First winners of AOL Innovation in the Community Awards announced

Thirty community groups and charities have won the first AOL Innovation in the Community Awards.

Beacon Fellowship says 'thank you' for nominations

Beacon, the charitable initiative that aims to raise the profile of philanthropy in the UK, has reported a very encouraging response to its call for nominations for the inaugural Beacon Prize, which will be awarded later this year.

Beacon has received over 750
nominations for philanthropists and givers from across the UK. The final judging will take place on 30th September.

$1 million prize for non-profits available

Non-profits around the world can now apply for the world's largest humanitarian award of $1 million (U.S.).

The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation is inviting nominations for the 2004 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize. The prize will recognise an organisation that has made extraordinary contributions toward alleviating human suffering anywhere in the world.

Fruitful Fundraising receives Investors in People award

Professional fundraising organisation Fruitful Fundraising has been awarded Investors in People status.

Investors in People is the national quality standard which sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation's performance through its people.

Fruitful Fundraising said that it is the first professional fundraising organisation to receive the award.

Guardian Charity Awards 2003 shortlist announced

This year's Guardian Charity Awards shortlisted entries have been announced.

The shortlist consists of 33 charities from which five winners will be selected. The winners will each receive £5,000 from Sainsbury's and the opportunity to have a Web site designed and built by smartchange.

The winners will be announced in October-2003.

Teachers' union Web site wins TUC Award

The NASUWT Web site, developed by Poptel Technology, has won the TUC 'Best Use of Electronic Communications' award 2003.

The site was commended for the service it offers to the teaching union's members and stakeholders.

UK Charity Awards 2003 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the 2003 UK Charity Awards, run by Charity Times magazine in association with Charity Logistics, has been announced.

QED UK, Terrence Higgins Trust, The Fairtrade Foundation, and Wateraid have been shortlisted for the Charity of the Year award.

Fruitful Fundraising awarded Investors In People status

Fundraising service agency Fruitful Fundraising LLP has become the first face to face fundraising agency to be awarded Investors In People (IIP) status.

Macmillan's fundraising event breaks world record

Guinness World Record certificate

Macmillan Cancer Relief's major fundraising event, the "World's Biggest Coffee Morning", is officially a World Record breaker.

Macmillan's flagship fundraising event had held the Guiness World Record since
1996 for the 'largest simultaneous party'. This record was smashed during 2002's event when 545,647 people attended over 26,000 coffee mornings all over the country.

Depaul Trust shortlisted in New Media Age awards

The Depaul Trust was shortlisted for the Special Award for Innovation in the New Media Age Effectiveness Awards 2003.

The Trust was shortlisted along with its agency Publicic Dialog Group for its V.O.D.K.A. campaign. This was a DRTV advert designed to raise awareness of homeless people and raise funds.

The winner of the innovation category was Shazam Entertainment.
