Gardening charity commemorates supporters' names on glass panels

The Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) Garden at Wisley in Surrey has recorded on glass panels the names of 1,700 individual donors who have donated over £200 to the RHS Bicentenary Appeal.

The appeal was launched to fund the RHS Bicentenary Glasshouse, over twice the size of the existing glasshouses.

Children's Centre Project starts capital appeal

The Children's Centre Project (CCP) has begun a capital appeal, working with Cascaid, for a new building to bring together children's charities.

Two staff have joined the development team at the Zoological Society of London (ZSL).

Philippa Roberts is the new Head of Development at ZSL, moving from Rio Tinto where, as Corporate Relations Adviser, she managed the company's partnerships with environmental organisations.

Moorfields Eye Hospital in London has raised over £10 million to build an International Children's Eye Centre.

The capital appeal is the hospital's first major fundraising effort in 50 years. Its success means that the new facility will be
entirely funded through private donors.

Tax breaks for alumni could build university endowments

A report on university endowment funds calls for tax breaks for graduates to help establish and increase endowment funds for UK universities.

The report "University Endowments" by the Sutton Trust points out that only five UK universities have endowments worth £100 million or more, compared to 207 universities in the USA.
