Pell and Bales win second DMA Royal Mail Award

Telemarketing agency Pell and Bales have won the DMA Royal Mail Award for the Best use of Telemarketing for the second year running. The Award was made in recognition of their campaign with WWF (UK). Pell and Bales won the same award in 1998 for their work with IFAW.

Barnardo's introduce powerful ads

Children's charity Barnardo's has launched a new communications campaign "to challenge out-dated views of Britain's biggest children's charity." The hard-hitting ads depict children in a variety of 'adult' situations, including homelessness, alcohol abuse, suicide and prison.

The Lancaster Royal Grammar School has launched a Web-based alumni database which is aimed at building closer links with the school's alumni, but which should also enhance the quality of its alumni records.

Simply not the best - ICFM warns of street collection fraud

ICFM is warning its members of a new street collection fraud. Street collectors are collecting in the Euston area of London on behalf of BEST, the Benevolent Ex-Servicemen's Trust. The Charity Commission confirmed to ICFM that no such charity is registered with them. ICFM recommends that you inform local police if you come across any other sightings.

Instant donor recognition

It is essential to thank donors for their gifts, and it makes sense to thank them as soon as possible. The immediacy of online donations offers an immediate response and acknowledgement. Such a facility is about to launch at the Arizona State University. From 1 November they will start offering a "scrolling honour role of donors" at their Web site.

Ethical birthday party
