Online auctions are still proving popular methods of online fundraising, and charities are using both in-house and external solutions to run them.

National BBQ week to benefit Variety Club

The 7th National BBQ Week will be held this year from 19th -26th May to raise funds for the Variety Club Children's Charity.

As nominated charity, the Variety Club hopes to raise £1 million from "the UK's biggest celebration of outdoor eating."

Official sponsors of this year's event include Foster's, Blue Nun, Bird's Eye and British Meat.

Marks and Spencer staff support ChildLine in London Marathon

Marks and Spencer is fielding a staff team of around 100 runners to raise funds for ChildLine in next month's 2003 Flora London Marathon. Each runner is aiming to raise at least £1,000 for the charity, and Marks and Spencer has pledged to match the money raised pound for pound.

  • 22 radio stations support Macmillan's 'Bring a £1 to Work Day'

    Twenty two radio stations across the UK owned by Radio Investments are calling on local businesses to take part in 'Bring a £1 to Work Day' to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Relief on 19 June 2003.

    The stations have a combined listenership of 3 million people. They include Minster FM, Silk FM, Central FM, Arrow FM and Spire FM.

    New electronic collecting box launched

    Donorpoint machine

    Donorpoint is a new free standing cash-point-like collecting box that accepts credit and debit card donations, thereby removing concerns over cash security.

    Donorpoint has been created by Geoffrey Fenton, Managing Director of Wild Yeast, "The Raising Agent for Charities," and runs on software written by Minerva Computer Systems, based in Cheltenham.

    Comic Relief tidies up its e-mail supporters list

    Comic Relief has e-mailed its past supporters, asking if they are still willing to receive e-mail messages from the charity.

    In the run-up to this year's Comic Relief event, the charity is cleansing and updating its e-mail supporter list.
