Having raised more than £1.6 million for its three founding charities, Birmingham's TLC Lottery is inviting other charities to join it, with 17 causes already signed up.

Charities that have recently joined the £1 a ticket TLC Lottery include Birmingham Children's Hospital, The Alzheimer's Society and The Foundation for Conductive Education.

Skill gaming website Midasplayer.com has launched Quiz Queen, a multiplayer Internet trivia quiz game hosted by celebrity Nancy Dell'Olio in aid of The British Red Cross.

As the host, Ms Dell'Olio introduces the players to the game and takes them through each question step-by-step, congratulating, encouraging and sympathising as they play.

AMA Charity Services wins Motability raffle campaign contract

Disability charity Motability has chosen AMA Charity Services to manage the in-bound response handling operation of its bi-annual raffle campaigns for the next two years.

After 18 agencies tendered for the contract, AMA secured it after a head-to-head pitch with one other agency.

Each raffle mailing will be sent to between 300,000 and 450,000 people across the UK.

The RSPCA has launched what it claims is the UK's first animal welfare charity weekly lottery.

The lottery offers players a chance to win £3,000 in cash prizes every week plus a £10,000 special jackpot. Players pay £1 a week.

Hospice lotteries "regularly played by 1% of UK population"

A recent study by UK lottery service provider Sterling Management Centre Ltd has revealed that at least 1% of the UK population regularly plays hospice lotteries.


The research, conducted across 65 hospices in the UK, identified 610,000 people playing their local lottery on a weekly basis.

Hospice lottery celebrates another jackpot year

Lichfield charity St Giles Hospice has raised £1,035,316 with its weekly draw in the year to March 2004, beating the previous year's total of £1 million.

The lottery has now raised over £4 million in its seven-year history. It was established after the National Lottery Charities Board, now the Big Lottery Fund, turned down its application for £190,000.
