Keane jersey sold for ‚€4,000 at charity auction

A Roy Keane Manchester United jersey has been sold at a charity auction in Cork for ‚€4,000. The former Irish skipper has donated one of his last Man United shirts to the church he was baptized in to help generate funds for renovations to the building.



As the hammer came down on the jersey, Keano's parish priest Fr Robert Young thanked him for his support.

International Fund secures $13.5 million

The U.S. government has pledged $13.5 million to the International Fund for Ireland. The fund, which assists in the development of economic and social schemes, is designed to supplement the peace process.

Charities' body calls for lower tax threshold for donations

The Irish Charity Tax Reform Group in a pre-budget submission has called for the minimum threshold for donations qualifying for tax relief to be reduced from ‚€250 to ‚€100, and to extend the current tax relief to cover non-cash gifts, such as shares.

Boy's idea generates thousands for charity

The Department for Social Development iin Northern Ireland is seeking applications for its £3m Modernisation Fund by 10 January 2006. The fund is directed at existing charities, voluntary and community organisations (or partnerships of organisations) and social economy enterprises that are already involved in delivering services.

KERRY'S largest charity event, the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle, was embroiled in controversy last week after one of the charities nominated to receive money from the fundraiser declined to accept a cheque at the event's annual dinner dance.

Cancer event falls below target

The Irish Cancer Society's Daffodil Day has not reached its intended target in 2005 and is below the figure for 2004. Daffodil Day is the largest annual fundraising event run by the Irish Cancer Society to raise money for people with cancer.
