Research on N Ireland charitable giving revealed

Research carried out by the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action has found that more than nine out of ten people in Northern Ireland make donations averaging £12.76 per month and as much as an additional £44 million could be raised if people used Gift Aid.

Young People's Fund to open in N Ireland

In Northern Ireland the Big Lottery Fund are giving out £9.8 million through the Young People's Fund over the next three to five years for young people up to 25 years old. This scheme is opening on the 28 September 2005.



The Young People's Fund aims to promote youth inclusion and target resources at those young people at greatest risk of exclusion and offending.

Prisoner planning to go on the run... for charity

A prisoner wants to get out of Limerick jail and do a runner, according to the Irish Examiner. Not to flee, but rather leg it back in behind bars. And yesterday he told the prison authorities about his plan which is all in aid of charity fundraising.

Irish Government invites einclusion applications

The Minister for the Information Society, Tom Kitt, is inviting proposals for projects to be funded under the einclusion fund. The fund, of ‚€1.025, was established to support the participation of late adopters of technology.

Mayo groups eligible for 'Go for Life' grants

Age & Opportunity in Ireland has announced advance notice of another Go for Life National Grant Scheme for sport and physical activity for older people. Again this year over E300,000 will be made available to local groups to enable them to get their older members more involved in sport and physical activity.

Church appeal claims good progress

CCS Europe, one of the world's leading fundraising consultancies, has raised £6 million of its £7 million target for the 'Planning For The Future' appeal. The appeal, which is ahead of schedule, is for the Catholic disocese of Down and Connor for cathedral restoration, priest retirement and lay education.

Irish Gendarmes get on their bikes

Fifty Gardaí will depart from Rosslare to begin a charity cycle in Roscoff, France. The group will cycle 900kms ending six days later in San Sebastian, Spain. It is hoped that over ‚€100,000 will be raised for two charities.

Vodafone sets new funding deadline

Vodafone Ireland Foundation is inviting applications for its next round of grant giving which will run until 8th November.



Vodafone Ireland Foundation (VIF) funds a variety of projects which:

(1) Extend the benefits of mobile technology to communities
(2) Support Community Initiatives which seek to enhance positive social interactions

Course planned on payroll giving programme

A new training programme, 'Making Local Business Your Business,' will hold a one day workshop on Tuesday 13th September at the Wellington Park Hotel, Belfast. The programme is designed to help charities make the most of the Payroll Giving Grants scheme.
