A major new foundation has recently been set up in Dublin which will focus on charitable causes both in Ireland and the developing world.
The One Foundation will operate on the principle of 'giving while living' and has an expected life time of 10 years. One was established by Declan Ryan whose family have a significant shareholding in Ryan Air.
EBS Building Society has committed ‚€1 million to the Simon Communities of Ireland and the National Adult Literacy Association (NALA) as part of its new corporate social responsibility programme called Positive Impact.
The partnerships with Simon and the NALA is over three years and will help address the issues of homelessness and financial literacy.
Ireland's 15,000 highest net worth individuals are worth around $52 billion according to a survey by Cap Gemini and investment bank Merrill Lynch. This works out at almost $3.5 million each on average.
